My sister and I have this little term we use when we decide to do something and nothing is holding us back. We call it a wild hair.
I will just whisper quietly and say that my loving husband is not a handy man. But, let’s just keep that little detail between us.
I have asked for several years to address the issue I have had with my dining room and it has conveniently slipped his mind repeatedly. So as my sister and I would say, I got a wild hair and decided to tackle the task on my own. Here is the problem. No, not the plug in air freshener… the lack of quarter round.

The wait was just too much, so I visited the local Lowes who kindly sold me my very own table saw for which I could make 45 degree angle cuts. It is the perfect size for me as to not make my new undertaking of operating a very scary blade look too daunting. I borrowed my brother-in-laws finish nailer and the results are fabulous!

But wait, I can make this room even better with some shadow box wainscoting! I found a great tutorial by Centsational Girl

Who was stupid enough to set me loose with this saw and nailer? I discovered that simple carpentry work is not brain surgery, and I am loving the results! I watched a few You Tube videos and the rest is history!

Here are two shots as I went. First, I created these frames and placed them around the room. Then, I painted the entire bottom half to give it the finishing touch!

Don’t you just love power tools. There is nothing that can hold you back now. You are now a DIYer.
